Alpine in appearance, the Puy de Sancy stands out from the other peaks of the Massif Central by its steep slopes and jagged edges. An ideal playground for experienced skiers who want to slide down its steep slopes and explore the surrounding peaks and steep rocks: Puy Ferrand, Dent de la Rancune...

Sancy is also home to four valleys shaped by glaciers:

• Chaudefour (north-east);

• Salt fountain (south);

• Dordogne (north);

• Doe (west).

Many streams have their source on the slopes of the Sancy, notably the Dore (1,680 meters above sea level) and the Dogne (1,640 meters), which join at 1,370 meters above sea level to give rise to the Dordogne.
